CNY WINS TWO ENR REGIONAL BEST PROJECT AWARDS

Ken Colao, Steve Colao, Dennis Prude and their CNY team were the stars of the show Wednesday, as the only builder in the Metropolitan area to bring home two Regional Best Projects Awards during Engineering News-Record’s annual breakfast awards gala at the Edison Ballroom.

CNY brought home the top prize in the Residential/Hospitality category for the Times Square EDITION / 20 Times Square development and in the Renovation/Restoration category for their work on a confidential luxury residential conversion project.

“The depth of our experience and the knowledge of our extraordinary staff was on full display, as the only regional construction manager or general contractor to be honored with two ENR Regional Best Projects Awards in the same year,” Colao said after the ceremony. “I am very proud of the teams that managed these complex projects and wish to thank ENR for this distinction.”

Construction of the new 42-story EDITION Hotel at 20 Times Square was a textbook example of managing logistical challenges while meeting the exacting standards of several illustrious brands. The five-star flag is a co-venture between Marriott Hotel Corporation and Ian Schrager Hotels and contains 452 guest rooms, suites, a cabaret nightclub, several levels of bars and restaurants curated by celebrity chef John Fraser and a 100-foot-tall electronic screen on the building’s podium. An existing theater building was partly demolished and tied into construction of the new high-rise on the corner of 7th Avenue and 47th Street, which also required the protection of more than 330,000 pedestrians who passed by the site each day.
